Claiming Process
First, the claimant must meet with their lawyer. Once the lawyer has assessed the need for a medical assessment and RAF4 form or any further independent medical reports, an appointment is made with Dr Maraj for the assessment. For the claiming process, you may need to supply a copy of your ID, an affidavit, report of the accident as well as photos of the injuries and damages.
Your assessment with Dr Maraj will include a history, examination and a report. You will be asked to divulge your injuries and current health status. Additional medical evidence such as scans and x-rays may be requested to assess your condition.
Dr Maraj works with a team of medical professionals, providing medico-legal services and additional referrals may be necessary to completely assess the extent of injuries.
It is advised that all documentation, medical records and investigations accompany the patient to the consultation. For your claim, it’s important to ensure you have all the necessary documentation. In some instances, the RAF will settle your claim out of court, but this is not always the case. A copy of the Accident Report (OAR) will provide further information on who caused the accident and how the incident occurred.
